The Only One - 라이오넬 리치 Lionel Richie / 1983

The Only One은 US 싱어송라이터 라이오넬 리치(Lionel Richie)가 1983년 발표한 두 번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Can't Slow Down>에 수록한 곡으로 라이오넬 팬들에게 많은 사랑을 받고 있는 곡이다. 강력한 히트 가능성이 있음에도 싱글로 내지 않은 것에 의견이 많았는데 히트곡도 많고 앨범 판매량도 많아서 'CD only'와 같은 성격의 의미로 팬들을 위해 놓아둔 것으로 보인다. 개인적으로는 데이빗의 최고 곡들 중 한 곡이라고 생각한다. 

 

데이빗 포스터(David Foster)가 만들고 라이오넬과 공동으로 프로듀서를 맡았다. 데이빗은 키보드와 베이스 연주, 리듬 편곡 등도 맡았다. 스티브 루카서(Steve Lukather)가 기타를 연주했고 존 로빈슨(John Robinson)이 드럼을, 제레미 러복(Jeremy Lubbock)이 현악 편곡을, 리차드 막스(Richard Marx)가 백업보컬을 맡았다.

데이빗과 라이오넬은 시카고(Chicago)의 Please Hold On에도 같이 참여했다. 

 

가사는 사랑을 고백하는 내용이다.
