Lil Boo Thang - 폴 러셀 Paul Russell / 2023

 

Lil Boo Thang은 래퍼 폴 러셀(Paul Russell, 19971128)이 2023년 발표한 EP <Again Sometime?>에 수록한 곡으로 캐나다 5위,  US 14위, 연말결산 78위, UK 20위, 아일랜드 28위 등을 기록 했다.

 

폴이 만들고 숀 쿡(Sean Cook)이 프로듀서를 맡았고 브릿지에서는 이모션즈(Emotions)의 1977년 곡 Best Of My Love를 사용했다. 뮤직비디오 감독은 자마르 하딩(Jamar Harding)이 맡았다. 폴은 빌보드와의 인터뷰에서 "어느 목요일 오후에 스트레스를 많이 받아서 행복하게 만드는 음악을 틀고 무언가를 축하하고 있다고 상상하면서 곡을 만들었어요"라고 말했다. 

 

가사는 아마도 임자 있는 여자에 대한 사랑을 말하고 있는 것 같다. "shootin' that shot"은 가능성이 거의 없는 상태에서 성모송을 부르며 최후로 한번 시도해 보는 걸 말한다. 멀리서 던지는 농구의 버저비터처럼. "2K"는 US  프로농구 게임 NBA 2K를 가리킨다. "so I took the doors off the Jeep"에서 지프는 문짝을 쉽게 달았다 떼었다 할 수 있는 지프 랭글러를 가리키고 "I'ma keep it real when your man long gone" 부분은 섹스를 위해 남친있는 여자만 유혹하고 남자와 헤어지면 여자에 대한 관심도 식는 경우가 있지만 화자는 상대의 남자가 떠나면 진짜 자기의 사랑을 보여주겠다고 말하는 내용이다.
