Standing On The Corner - The Four Lads / 1956

Standing On The Corner는 포 래즈(The Four Lads)가 1956년 발표한 곡으로 US 3위, 연말결산 29위, 1950년대 결산 86위, UK 34위 등을 기록했다. 

 

프랭크 로에서(Frank Loesser)가 만든 곡으로 브로드웨이 뮤지컬 <The Most Happy Fella>에 사용되었다. 레이 엘리스(Ray Ellis)가 편곡과 지휘를 맡았다.

 

가사는 여자를 한 번도 사귀어 본 적이 없는 화자가 모퉁이에 서서 미래에 자신의 여자가 될 여자를 꿈꾸며 지나가는 여자들을 쳐다본다는 내용이다. 화자는 그게 가장 행복한 일 중의 하나라고 말하는 것 같다.
