Heavy Is The Crown - 린킨 파크 Linkin Park / 2024

Heavy Is The Crown은 US 록밴드 린킨 파크(Linkin Park)가 2024년 발표한 8번째 스튜디오 앨범 <From Zero>에 수록한 곡으로 UK 18위, 캐나다 40위, 아일랜드 49위, US 79위 등을 기록했다. 리그 오브 레전드 2024년(Riot Games' 2024 League of Legends World Championship) 우승곡으로 사용되었다.

 

보컬의 에밀리 암스트롱(Emily Armstrong) 등 멤버들이 함께 만들고 마이크 시나노(Mike Shinoda)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 뮤직비디오는 프랑스 브런치 스튜디오에서 제작했고 국내 롤팬들 사이에서는 밴드를 너무 부각시키고 페이커(Faker, 이상혁)가 소속된 우승팀인 대한민국의 T1을 곁다리 취급했다며 역대 최악의 MV라는 평이 주를 이루고 있다. 

 

가사는 팬들의 기대와 요구, 정상을 지켜야 하는 압박감과 그 어려움을 말하고 있는 것 같다. 제목은 셰익스피어(William Shakespeare)의 <헨리 4세( Henry IV)>에 나오는 "왕관을 쓴 머리는 불안하다(Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown)"에서 파생된 말인 것 같다. 이를 우리나라에서는 "왕관을 쓴 자, 무게를 견뎌라"로 번역했다. 백기가 항복의 의미가 된 것은 1899년 헤이그 협약에서 채택하면서 공식적인 의미가 되었다. 역사적으로는 로마 역사가 티투스 리비우스(Titus Livius, Livy)가 기원전 20년경에 쓴 <로마서(Ab Urbe Condita)>에서 기원전 200년 제2차 포에니 전쟁 때 카르타고 군함이 하얀 천과 올리브 가지를 항복의 표시로 내걸었다고 적고 있다.
