Angel In Blue - The J. Geils Band / 1981

Angel In Blue는 US 밴드 제이 가일스 밴드(J. Geils Band)가 1981년 발표한 10번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Freeze Frame>에 수록한 곡으로 이듬해 싱글로 내놓아 US 40위, UK 55위에 올랐다. 애절한 발라드의 느낌이 있어 국내 라디오팬들에게 인기가 있었다. 

팀의 키보디스트인 세스 저스트만(Seth Justman)이 만들고 프로듀서도 맡았다. 시씨 휴스턴(Cissy Houston)과 루더 밴드로스(Luther Vandross)가 BG 보컬로 참여했다. 뮤직비디오는 영화감독이자 세스의 동생인 폴 저스트만(Paul Justman)이 감독을 맡았고 US 배우 마릴린 먼로(Marilyn Monroe)의 영상을 사용했다.

 

가사는 삶의 목적 없이 살아간 어떤 사람에 대한 이야기를 묘사하고 있다.  제목은 파란옷을 입었다는 뜻도 되지만, 우울하다는 뜻도 될 것 같다.

이 동물원에 완전히 갇혀 정신이 메말라 갔거든

야생 고양이 같은 천사, 파란 옷을 입은 천사는 말이야

그녀가 아무 곳도 응시하지 않을 때

난 생각했지, 그래, 그녀가 좌절하고 울고 있는 거라고
