Sex And Money - Lydia Loveless / 2023

 

Sex And Money는 US 얼터너티브 컨트리 싱어송라이터 리디아 러브리스(Lydia Loveless)가 2023년 발표한 6번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Nothing's Gonna Stand In My Way Again>에 수록한 곡으로 NPR 선정 2023년 최고의 곡들 중 한 곡으로 뽑혔다.  

 

리디아가 만들고 프로듀서도 맡았다.  

 

가사는 헤어진, 혹은 이미 결혼해서(?) 가끔 자신을 만나러 오는 상대에 대한 애정을 표현한 노래인 것 같다. 하지만 들여다보면 어쩌면 현대인들의 궁극적 이상을 말하고 있는 느낌이다. 의식주를 해결할 수 있는 돈과 섹스를 할 수 있는 상대만 있다면 만사가 끝이라는, 그런 자세. 돈과 섹스 중에 어느쪽이 더 우선한 건지는, 스스로 자기 자신에 내린 과대평가를 이제는 제대로 봐야 할 때라고 말하고 있고, 상대에게 상처주는 식으로 관계를 끌어온 것에 대해 후회하는 모습 등의 반성으로 볼 때 상대의 사랑이 더 먼저 인 것 같다.
