There’s A Kind Of Hush - Herman’s Hermits / 1967

There's A Kind Of Hush는 맨체스터 출신의 UK 록 밴드 허먼스 허밋츠(Herman’s Hermits)가 1967년 발표한 5번째 스튜디오 앨범 <There's A Kind Of Hush All Over The World>에 수록한 곡으로 캐나다 2위, US 4위, UK와 아일랜드 각각 7위 등을 기록했다. 1976년 카펜터즈(Carpenters)가 커버해 US 12위에 올랐다.

 

레스 리드(Les Reed)와 제프 스티븐스(Geoff Stephens)가 만들었고 미키 모스트(Mickie Most)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 처음 발표한 그룹은 제프가 속해 있던 그룹인 뉴 보더빌 밴드(New Vaudeville Band)였고 첫 싱글로 발표한 그룹은 게리 앤 더 호넷츠(Gary And The Hornets)란 팀이다. 리드 보컬인 피터 눈(Peter Noone)이 여러 곳에서 한 인터뷰를 정리하면 “게리의 버전 때문에 우리 버전이 라디오에서 나오지 않을까봐 노심초사했어요. 당시 묵직한 헤비메탈 스타일의 밴드 음악이 유행하기 바로 직전이였거든요. 다행히도 말랑말랑한 음악들을 했던 밴드들의 인기곡들 중 끝자락에 설 수 있던 곡인 것 같아요‘라고 할 수 있을 것 같다.
