One - Harry Nilsson / 1968

One은 해리 닐슨(Harry Nilsson, 19410615 ~ 19940115)이 1968년 발표한 3번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Aerial Ballet>에 수록한 곡으로 피치포크 선정 ‘최고의 1960년대 음악’ 108위에 올랐다. 이듬해 스리 독 나잇(Three Dog Night)의 버전이 캐나다 4위, US 5위 등을 기록했고 이 외에도 아주 많은 가수들이 커버했다.

해리가 만들고 가브리엘 메클러(Gabriel Mekler)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 해리는 누군가에게 전화를 건 뒤에 통화중 신호음을 듣고 영감을 얻었다. “뚜뚜뚜”하는 소리를 피아노 음으로 바꿔 처음에 사용했다. 전체적인 스케일이 비틀즈(The Beatles) 느낌이 난다. 

가사는 상대가 떠난 후 느끼는 외로움에 관한 것이다. 특히 둘이 있다 혼자가 됐을 때의 느낌을  숫자 1로 표현하고 있다.
