Just Once - 퀸시 존스 Quincy Jones ft James Ingram / 1981

 

Just Once는 US 프로듀서 퀸시 존스(Quincy Jones, 19330314 ~ 20241103)가 1981년 발표한 스튜디오 앨범 <The Dude>에 수록한 곡으로 US 17위에 올랐다. 국내에서 꾸준히 사랑받으며 1980년대 초반 라디오 프로그램의 단골손님이었다.

 

곡은 베리 맨(Barry Mann)과 신시아 웨일(Cynthia Weil, 19401018 ~ 20230601)이 만들었다.  US 보컬리스트 제임스 잉그램(James Ingram, 1952-216 ~ 20190129)과 스티브 루카서(Steve Lucather), 데이빗 포스터(David Foster) 등의 뮤지션들이 참여했다. 제임스는 한 TV 인터뷰에서 "50달러를 받고 이 곡의 데모버전 가이드를 불렀어요. 근데 그걸 들은 퀸시가 제게 자신의 앨범에서 정식으로 불러줬으면 좋겠다고 했죠"라고 말했다. 

 

가사는 두 사람이 헤어질 위기이지만 미워도 다시 한 번을 외치며 다시 잘 지낼 수 있는 방법을 찾아보자는 내용인 것 같다.
