Vjezd gladiátorů(검투사의 등장) - Julius Fučík / 1897

 

Vjezd gladiátorů(Entry Of The Gladiators, 검투사들의 등장)은 체코의 작곡가 율리우스 푸치크(Julius Fučík, 18720718 ~ 19160925)가 1987년 군대 행진곡으로 작곡한 곡이다. 원래 제목은 크로마틱 스케일을 이용해 만들었기에 "Grande Marche Chromatique"로 지었으나 로마 제국에 대한 개인적인 관심을 반영해 제목을 바꾸었고 "승리의 행진곡(Triumph-Marsch)"이란 부제를 달고 있다. 

 

캐나다 작곡가 루이 필립 로렌도(Louis-Philippe Laurendeau)이 이끄는 윈드 밴드가 편곡한 곡을 1901년 US 출판사의 칼 피셔(Carl Fischer)가 Thunder And Blazes란 제목으로 출판했고 이 곡을 서커스 공연에 사용하면서 음악이 점차 큰 인기를 누렸고 지금까지도 대표적인 서커스 음악들 중 하나로 인식하고 있다.

 

일반적으로 세 부분으로 나눈다. 첫 부분은 트럼펫이 이끄는멜로디 파트고 두 번째 부분은 튜바가 이끄는 저음의 브라스들이 크로마틱 스케일을 펼친다. 마지막 부분은 느린 멜로디가 우드 윈드와 저음의 브라스로 진행된다. 지휘자들의 취향과 상황에 따라 템포를 빠르게 바꾸기도 한다.

 

엘튼 존(Elton John)의 Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock 'n Roll), 부츠 랜돌프(Boots Randolph)의 Yakety Sax에 영향을 준 것으로 보이고 스트레이 키즈(Stray Kids)의 Circus,  리오 세이어(Leo Sayer)의 The Show Must Go On 등에 사용되었다. 개인적으로는 테트리스 게임 음악으로 사용되었던 러시아 민요 Коробейники(코르베이스키)와 많이 헷갈려 했던 것 같다.

It is used in Nino Rota's score for Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita (1960).[7][8] In the film version of Godspell (1973), Judas hums it when he begins his betrayal and crucifixion of Jesus. (In that adaptation, Jesus and all the disciples are dressed and made up as clowns.) In Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012), Marty the Zebra while dressed in clown makeup dances and sings a parody version, popularly known as "Afro Circus". It is also briefly used in the video game Deltarune (2025), specifically as a short gag during the game show segment of Chapter 3.
The march receives the occasional concert hall performance, such as at the 2007 Last Night of the Proms.
