Rock Me Amadeus - 팔코 Falco / 1985

 

Rock Me Amadeus는 오스트리아 뮤지션 팔코(Falco, Johann Holzel, 19570219 ~ 19980206)가 1985년 발표한 3번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Falco 3>에 수록한 곡으로 오스트리아를 비롯해 US 1위, 연말결산 28위, 역대결산(2018년 기준) 472위를 비롯해 UK, 아일랜드, 캐나다 모두 1위에 올랐다. VH1 선정 '1980년대 최고의 곡' 87위, '위대한 원 히트 원더' 44위 등에 올랐다. 현재까지 저먼어로 발표한 첫 번째이자 유일한 US 1위곡이다. 원래의 버전인 저먼 버전을 비롯해 US 버전, 싱글 버전 등을 비롯해 총 17가지 버전이 있다.

 

팔코와 프로듀서를 맡은 롭 볼란드(Rob Bolland), 페르디 볼란드(Ferdi Bolland)가 밀로스 포만(Milos Forman) 감독의 1984년 영화 <아마데우스(Amadeus)>를 보고 만들었다.

 

가사는 역사상 가장 위대한 음악가로 평가받는 오스트리아 음악가 모차르트(Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)가 그 당시를 비춰보면 현재의 펑크 뮤지션이나 록 뮤지션과 같다는 내용을 담고 있다. “Rock me Amadeus"는 ”날 흔들어줘, 아마데우스“나 ”나에게 록을 연주해줘 아마데우스“로, 혹은 두 뜻을 섞어 이중적으로 해석할 수 있을 것 같고 여자들에게 인기있었다는 말을 계속하는 것으로 보아 성적인 의미도 어느 정도 포함하고 있는 것으로 보인다.
