The Ace Of Sorrow - 브라운 앤 다나 Brown & Dana / 1963

 

Ace Of Sorrow는 가렛 브라운(Garrett Brown)과 앨 다나(Al Dana)로 구성된 US 포크 듀오 브라운 앤 다나(Brown & Dana)가 1963년 발표한 스튜디오 앨범 <It Was A Very Good Year>에 수록한 곡으로 국내에서 트윈폴리오가 슬픈 운명이란 제목으로 번안해 불러 큰 인기를 얻었다. 외국과 상관없이 국내에서만 인기를 얻은 대표적인 곡들 중 한 곡이다.

 

UK 민속 음악인 Queen Of Hearts를 리메이크한 곡으로 개인적으로는 이들의 제목이 더 와 닿는 것 같다. 이들의 버전은 필 라몬(Phil Ramone)이 엔지니어를, 크리드 테일러(Creed Taylor)가 프로듀서를 맡았다.

 

사랑하는 사람과 헤어지기 싫은 마음을 나타낸 곡이다. 재산은 물론이고 부모 형제들도 다 버리고 떠날 기세로 터널시야에 빠져 있는 상태인 것 같다. “Queen Of Hearts”는 마음씨 좋고 인기 많은 여성을 가리키는 말이다.
