New Year’s Resolution – Carla Thomas & Otis Redding / 1967

New Year’s Resolution은 ‘멤피스 소울’이란 별명을 가지고 있는 미국 소울 가수 칼라 토마스(Carla Thomas)와 오티스 레딩(Otis Redding)이 1967년 발표한 듀엣 앨범 <King & Queen>에 수록한 곡이다. 둘이 부른 Lovey Dovey 싱글의 B면 곡으로 사용되었다.

 

랜들 캐트론(Randle Catron), 윌리 딘 파커(Willie Dean "Deanie" Parker), 메리 프리어슨(Mary Frierson) 등이 만들었고 스탁스사의 식구들인 짐 스튜어트(Jim Stewart), 부커 티 앤 더 엠지스(Booker T. & the MG's), 아이작 해이스(Isaac Hayes), 데이빗 포터(David Porter) 등이 프로듀서를 맡았다.

 

새해엔 더 많이 사랑하고 상처주지 말고 서로에서 소홀했던 것 등을 반성하자는 결심을 담고 있다.
