My Prayer - The Platters / 1956

My Prayer는 플래터스(The Platters)가 1956년 발표한 앨범의 타이틀곡으로 US 1위, R&B 1위, 연말결산 4위, UK 4위 등을 기록했다.

 

부캐넌 & 굿맨(Buchanan & Goodman)이 같은 해 발표한 The Flying Saucer에서 샘플링 했다. 데이빗 핀처(David Fincher) 감독의 2008년 영화 <벤자민 버튼의 시간은 거꾸로 간다(The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)>에 사용되었다.

 

로마니아 출신의 바이올리니스트는 게오르게스 볼랭저(Georges Boulanger, 18930418 ~ 19580603)가 작곡하고 까를로스 고메즈 바레라(Carlos Gomez Barrera), 지미 케네디(Jimmy Kennedy)이 작사, 벅 램(Buck Ram)이 프로듀서를 맡았다. 게오르게스가 1926년 Avant De Mourir란 제목으로 발표한 곡을 1939년에 가사를 붙인 것으로 그 해 글렌 밀러(Glenn Miller)의 버전이 US 2위에, 잉크 스팟스(The Ink Spots)의 버전이 3위에 올랐다.

 

화자가 흠모하고 있는 상대와 기도가 끝나면 함께 하게 해달라고 기도하고 있다는 내용이다.
