Stuck In The Middle With You - Stealers Wheel / 1972

Stuck In The Middle With You는 스코틀랜드 포크록 밴드 스틸러스 휠(Stealers Wheel)이  1972년 발표한 셀프타이틀 스튜디오 앨범에 수록한 곡으로 캐나다 2위, US 6위, UK 8위 등을 기록했다. 퀜틴 타란티노(Quentin Tarantino) 감독의 1992년 영화 <저수지의 개들(Reservoir Dogs)>에서 (당시엔) 충격적인 장면에 사용되면서 다시 인기를 얻었다. 아주 많은 가수들이 커버했고 UK 가수 루이제(Louise)가 2001년 발표한 버전이 UK 4위에 올랐다. 

 

제리 래퍼티(Gerry Rafferty)와 조 이건(Joe Egan)이 만들고 제리 라이버(Jerry Leiber)와 마이크 스톨러(Mike Stoller)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 밥 딜런(Bob Dylan) 스타일을 차용해 당시엔 처음 듣고 밥의 곡으로 인식하는 팬들도 많았다. 

 

가사는 어떤 모임에 갔는데 자신의 스타일에 맞지 않는다는 걸 알게 되어 빨리 집에 가고 싶어하는 마음을 노래한 것 같다. 알레시아 카라(Alessia Cara)의 Here와 비슷한 내용인 것 같다. 제리는 음악 비지니스 업계의 관계자들과 칵테일 파티 할때의 상황을 그렸다고 말했다.
