Suddenly – Oivia Newton-John & Cliff Richard / 1980

Suddenly는 올리비아 뉴튼-존(Olivia Newton-John)과 클리프 리처드(Clfif Richard)가 1980년 발표한 곡으로 아일랜드 6위, 영국 15위, 미국 20위, 캐나다 60위 등을 기록했다.

 

존 파라(John Farrar)가 만들고 프로듀서를 맡은 곡으로 로버트 그린왈드(Robert Greenwald) 감독의 <제너두(Xanadu)> O.S.T에 사용된 러브테마송이다. 영화에서는 녹음 스튜디오에서 영화속 주인공 두 사람이 롤러스케이트를 탈 때 나온다. 올리비아와 리처드의 뮤직비디오 장면은 ABC TV의 <Hollywood Nights>에서 만든 것이다.

 

가사는 갑자기 나타난 여성으로 인해 남성이 꿈을 이루게 되었다는 내용이다. 영화 속에서는 인간세계로 내려온 키라(Kira, 그리스 뮤즈 테르프시코라)의 출현에 꿈을 이루게 된 예술가 소니(Sonny Malone)의 이야기로 볼 수 있을 것 같다.
