Santa Maria - The Kelly Family / 1994

Santa Maria는 1974년 결성된 아일랜드와 미국계 가족 밴드 켈리 패밀리(The Kelly Family)가 1994년 발표한 8번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Over The Hump>에 수록한 곡으로 멤버들이 함께 만들었고 댄 켈리(Dan Kelly), 케이시 켈리(Kathy Kelly), 하트멋 팬뮬려(Hartmut Pfannmüller), 제작자인 마이크 언게페어(Mike Ungefehr) 등이 프로듀서를 맡았다.

 

화자가 아는 세상과 화자가 아는 모든 사람들에게 기독교(카톨릭, 개신교 등)의 신 예수(ישוע)의 어머니인 성모 마리아(Maria)의 기도가 있기를 바란다는 내용인 것 같다. 기도의 내용이 구체적이지는 않지만 좋은 쪽으로 해석하면 술어가 예상가능하다. ‘santa’는 스페인어로 성인의 여성형 명사이다.
