The End - Earl Grant / 1958

(At) The End (Of A Rainbow)는 미국의 피아니스트이자 보컬리스트인 얼 그랜트(Earl Grant 19310120~19700610)가 1958년 발표한 곡으로 미국 7위, R&B 16위 등을 기록했다. 초반부의 4마디는 홍삼트리오의 1979년 제1회 강변가요제 대상곡 기도에 영향을 준 것으로 보인다. 개인적으로는 루이 암스트롱(Louis Armstrong)의 What A Wonderful World도 이 곡에서 영감을 얻지 않았을까 하는 생각이다. 

 

지미 크론데스(Jimmy Krondes)와 시드 제이콥슨(Sid Jacobson)이 만들고 앨 헨드릭슨(Al Hendrickson)이 기타를 맡았다. 편곡은 찰스 버드 댄트(Charles "Bud" Dant)가 맡았다. 

모든 것에는 끝이 있지만 화자의 사랑만큼은 끝이 없고, 있다고 해도 이 세상 끝날때까지 갈 거라고 말하고 있다.
