Only Yesterday - Carpenters / 1975

Only Yesterday는 카펜터즈(Capenters)가 1975년 발표한 6번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Horizon>에 수록한 곡으로 캐나다 2위, 미국 4위, 아일랜드 5위, 영국 7위, 미국 AC 1위 등을 기록했다.

 

리처드 카펜터(Richard Carpenter)와 존 베티스(John Bettis)가 만들고 리처드가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 밥 메신저(Bob Messenger)가 테너 색소폰을 연주했다. 리처드와 존은 이 곡이 히트하지 않을 것이라고 생각했고 엔지니어 로저 영(Roger Young)은 히트한다고 말해 두 팀은 천 달러 내기를 걸었다. 로저가 가뿐하게 이겼다.

 

가사는 누군가를 만나서 과거의 외롭고 혼자였던 생활이 끝났다는 내용을 담고 있다.
