The Way It Used To Be - Engelbert Humperdinck / 1969

The Way It Used To Be는 UK 팝 가수 잉글버트 험퍼딩크(Engelbert Humperdinck, Arnold George Dorsey)가 1969년 발표한 곡으로 UK 3위, 아일랜드6위, 캐나다 18위, US 42위, AC 4위 등을 기록했다.

 

원래 이탈리아 가수 이사벨라 라네티(Isabella Lannetti)가 1968년 발표한 깐소네를 영어로 번안해 발표한 것이다. 꼬라도 콘티(Corrado Conti)와 프랑코 까사노(Franco Cassano)가 작곡하고 영어 가사는 로저 쿡(Roger Cook)과 로저 그리너웨이(Roger Greenaway)가 작사했다. 프로듀서는 피터 설리번(Peter Sullivan)이 맡았다.

 

가사는 특정한 음악을 들으며 헤어진 연인과 있었던 그 시절로 돌아가고 싶다는 내용인 것 같다.
