High School Confidential - Jerry Lee Lewis / 1958

High School Confidential은 US 뮤지션 제리 리 루이스(Jerry Lee Lewis, 19350929 ~ 20221028)가 1958년 발표한 곡으로 US 21위, R&B 5위, 컨트리 9위, UK 12위, 캐나다 13위 등을 기록했다. 차트상으로 흑백의 청년들을 아우르는 곡이었단 걸 확인할 수 있다. 클리프 리처드(Cliff Richard) 등 다수의 가수들이 커버했다. 

 

같은 해 개봉한 잭 아놀드(Jack Arnold) 감독의 영화 타이틀곡이다. 제리와 론 하그레이브(Ron Hargrave)가 만들고 샘 필립스(Sam Phillips)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 제리도 영화에 출연했고 영화를 위해 새로운 곡들을 녹음했으나 전혀 공개되지 않다가 1982년에 출시되었다. 이건 당시 제리가 미성년자와 결혼을 감행하며 사회적 물의를 일으킨 데 따른 것이다. 이 곡도 소속사의 홍보 거절로 차트에서 급격하게 사라져야만 했다. 

 

가사는 고등학교에서 열리는 비공식 사교모임 파티(hop)에서 춤을 추자는 내용이다.
