The Hut-Sut Song - Horace Heidt And His Musical Knights / 1941

The Hut-Sut Song은 US 피아니스트, 밴드 리더 호레이스 하이드(Horace Heidt, 19010521 ~ 19861201)가 자신이 이끄는 뮤지컬 나잇츠(The Musical Knights)와 1941년 발표한 노벨티 곡으로 재밌는 발음과 거기에 맞는 기발한 내용과의 조화로 인기를 누렸다. 아주 많은 가수들이 커버했다.

레오 킬리언(Leo V. Killion), 테드 맥마이클(Ted McMichael), 잭 오웬스(Jack Owens, 19121017 ~ 19820126) 등이 만들었다. 구전음악인 Hot Shot Dawson이란 곡을 토대로 만든 것으로 보고 있고 만들어낸 말 부분은 스웨덴 민요를 차용한 것으로 보인다. "Hut-Sut" 등은 글을 읽지 못하고 쓰지 못하는 소년이 만들어낸 말들이다.

가사는 학교에서의 교육으로는 꿀 수 없는 꿈을 꾸는 아이가 그 꿈을 포기하고 학교로 돌아가야만 했다는 얘기인 것 같다.
