Smack That - Akon Feat. Eminem / 2006

Smack That은 에이콘(Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam)이 2006년 발표한 2번째 스튜디오 앨범 <Konvicted>에 수록한 곡으로 아일랜드와 영국 1위, 미국에선 에이콘 자신의 곡인 I Wanna Love You 등을 비롯한 여러 곡에 막혀 5주간 2위에 머물렀다. 미국 연말결산 15위, 2000년대 결산 76위 등을 기록했다. 그래미 랩 컬래버레이션 부문 후보에 올랐으나 저스틴 팀버레이크(Justin Timberlake)와 T.I.의 My Love가 받았다.

 

게스트 래퍼로 참여한 에미넴(Eminem, Marshall Bruce Mathers III)이 프로그래밍을 했고 프로듀서도 맡았다. 여기에 에이콘을 비롯한 루이 레스트로(Louis Restro)와 마이크 스트레인지(Mike Strange)rk)가 추가로 작업을 마쳤다. 에이콘은 오비 트라이스(Obie Trice)와 Snitch 작업을 하면서 같은 레이블의 에미넴을 만났다. 에이콘은 이 곡에 에미넴의 참여를 간곡히 바랐지만 에미넴이 워낙 여러 곡에 발을 담그고 있어서 거절할 수도 있다고 생각했다.

 

뮤직비디오는 베니 붐(Benny Boom)이 감독을 맡았고 월터 힐(Walter Hill) 감독의 1982년 영화 <48시간(48 Hours)>를 리메이크 했다. 팻 조(Fat Joe), 릴 피즈(Lil Fizz), 레이지(Layzie), 나스(Nas), 켄드라 윌킨슨(Kendra Wilkinson) 등의 뮤지션들이 카메오로 출연했고 바텐더로 배우 마크 캐시미어 다이니에윅 주니어(Mark Casimir Dyniewicz Jr.)가, 주인공의 상대역으로 에릭 로버츠(Eric Roberts)가 출연했다. MTV 컬래버레이션 부문 후보에 올랐으나 비욘세(Beyoncé)와 샤키라(Shakira)의 Beautiful Liar가 받았다.

 

가사의 내용은 화자의 차나 돈에 매력을 느끼고 끌려오는 상대를 집에 데리고 가서 혹은 클럽에서 후배위를 한다는 내용인 것 같다. 태보는 태권도와 복싱을 응용한 에어로빅이다.
