Can't Stop The Music - 빌리지 피플 Village People / 1980

 

Can't Stop The Music은 US 디스코 그룹 빌리지 피플(Village People)이 1980년 발표한 6번째 스튜디오 앨범이자 낸시 워커(Nancy Walker) 감독의 뮤지컬 코미디 영화 OST의 타이틀곡으로 유럽에서 많은 사랑을 받았고 UK 11위, 아일랜드 18위, US 댄스 27위 등을 기록했다. 푸에르토리코 보이밴드 메누도(Menudo)가 1981년 No Se Puede Parar la Música란 제목으로 리메이크 했다. 

 

프랑스 싱어송라이터, 디스코 음악 프로듀서인 자크 모랄리(Jacques Morali, 19470704 ~ 19911115)와 피터 화이트헤드(Peter Whitehead), 필 허트(Phil Hurtt), 헨리 벨로로(Henri Belolo)가 작곡하고 자크가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 빅터 윌리스(Victor Willis)의 탈퇴로 레이 심슨(Ray Simpson)이 리드 보컬을 맡았다. 

 

가사는 우리의 모든 생활에 스며들어 있는 음악을 피하지 말고, 몸을 맡기고 즐기라고 말하며 음악을 멈추는 것보다 차라리 해가 빛나지 않기를, 나무가 자라지 않기를, 눈이 차갑지 않기를 바라는 게 더 쉬울 거라고 말하고 있다.
