Nora - Lord Kitchener / 1950

Nora는 트리니다드 토바코 출신의 칼립소 뮤지션 로드 키취너(Lord Kitchener, Aldwyn Roberts, 19220418 ~ 20000211)가 1950년 발표한 곡으로 NBG 선정 '1950년대 최고의 곡' 303위에 올랐다. 

 

키취너가 만들고 데니스 프레스톤(Denis Preston)이 프로듀서를 맡았다.

 

가사는 키취너가 UK에서 새로운 록큰롤 밴드 때문에 시장성을 잃어버리자 고국으로 돌아가 활동하겠다고 말하는 내용이다. 하지만 문제가 있다. 키취너는 노라라는 여자를 사귀고 있어서 이별을 선고해야 하기 때문이다. 안타깝게도 노라는 키취너를 보낼 생각이 없다. 그래서 한편으로는 돈과 차로 회유하고 한편으로는 죽이겠다고 협박을 한다. 노라는 비행기를 표를 숨기며 어떻게든 떠나지 못하게 막으려 하지만 키취너는 짐을 미리 배편으로 보내고 결국 고국으로 가는 비행기에 몸을 싣는다.
