Splish Splash - Bobby Darin / 1958

Splish Splash는 바비 다린(Bobby Darin, 19360514 ~ 19731220)이 1958년 발표한 곡으로 US 3위, R&B 2위, UK 18위 등을 기록했다. 바비의 첫 히트곡이다. 바비는 “첫 히트 곡을 낸 게 너무 행복해서 제 피부가 아주 말끔해졌어요”라고 말했다. 약간 늦게 나온 코니 프란시스(Connie Francis)의 Stupid Cupid는 이 곡을 레퍼런스 한 것으로 보인다. 

바비와 DJ 머레이 카우프만(Murray Kaufman)이 만들었다. 테너 색소폰은 제시 파월(Jesse Powell)이 연주했다. 머레이의 어머니(Jean Kaufman)는 바비에게 "Splish Splash, I was takin' a bath"로 시작하는 곡을 만들어 보라고 제안했다. 하지만 머레이는 바비가 그런 가사로 곡을 쓸 수는 없을 거라고 장담했다. 가사에는 Lollipop, Peggy Sue, Good Golly Miss Molly 등의 곡들을 언급한다. 

가사는 목욕을 하다가 마루로 나와 보니 십대 애들이 파티를 하고 있는 것을 목격하고 목욕을 계속하려고 하다가 그 광경에 마음을 뺏겨 자신도 춤출 때 신는 신발을 신고 나가서 한바탕 신나게 춤을 춘다는 내용이다.
