Ah! Sweet Mystery Of Life - Sarah Vaughan / 1963

 

Ah! Sweet Mystery Of Life는 US 재즈 뮤지션 사라 본(Sarah Vaughan, 19240327 ~ 19900403)이 1969년 발표한 스튜디오 앨범 <Sarah Slightly Classical>에 수록한 곡이다.   

 

라이다 존슨 영(Rida Johnson Young)이 작사, 빅터 허버트(Victor Herbert)가 작곡하고 헨리 글로버(Henry Glover)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 원래 1780년 US 뉴올리언즈에서 막을 올렸던 오페레타 <말괄량이 마리에트(Naughty Marietta)>에 사용된 곡이다. 

 

가사는 사랑에 빠지면서 삶의 모든 궁금증이 해결되었다는 내용인 것 같다. 극중에서는 후반부에 캡틴 딕(Captain Dick Warrington)과 마리에타가 사랑에 빠졌을 때 이 곡을 부른다.
