No Particular Place To Go - 척 베리 Chuck Berry / 1964

 

No Particular Place To Go는 US 싱어송라이터 척 베리(Charles Edward Anderson Berry,  19261018 ~20170318)가 1964년 발표한 7번째 스튜디오 앨범 <St. Louis To Liverpool>에 수록한 UK 3위, 캐나다 6위, 아일랜드 7위, US 10위를 기록했다. 

 

척이 만들고 레너드 체스(Leonard Chess), 필 체스(Phil Chess)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 

 

가사는 (아마도) 사귄지 얼마 되지 않은 연인과 드라이브를 갔다가 한적한 곳에서 산책을 하려 했으나 안전벨트를 풀지 못해 그냥 돌아왔다는 내용이다. 하지만 진짜 내용은 키스, 포옹 등으로 전개되는 걸로 봐서 (아마도) 카섹스를 하려고 했으나 상대의 방어가 심해서 화가 났다는 내용인 것 같다. "her belt"가 안전벨트를 의미하는지도 알 수없고. 목적이 분명하지만 특별히 갈 곳이 없다는 제목의 대비도 재밌고 상대의 방어적인 태도를 안전벨트로 표현하는 것도 재치있는 것 같다.
