Try To Remember - Andy Williams / 1966

Try To Remember는  US 뮤지션 앤디 윌리암스(Andy Williams, 19271203 – 20120925)가 1966년 발표한 18번째 스튜디오 앨범 <The Shadow Of Your Smile>에 수록한 곡으로 국내에서 많은 사랑을 받았고 1999년 MBC 라디오 <골든 디스크> '한국인이 좋아하는 팝송 200' 중 175위를 기록했다. 또한 국내에서 1990년대 초반에 홍콩가수 여명(黎明, Li Ming. Leon Lai)의 버전이 인기를 얻은 바 있다.

 

가사는 (가수가 아닌) 작사가 톰 존스(Tom Jones)가 짓고 작곡가 하비 슈미츠(Harvey Schmidt)가 만들었다. 밥 플로렌스(Bob Florence)가 편곡을, 로버트 머시(Robert Mersey)가 프로듀서를, 잭 엘리엇(Jack Elliot)이 지휘를 맡았다. US 브로드웨이 코미디 뮤지컬 <The Fantasticks>에 등장하는 곡으로 극 중에서 처음 노래를 부른 것은 제리 오바흐(Jerry Orbach)다.

 

가사는 상대에게 9월과 같이 좋았던 과거를 회상하고 함께 그때의 마음으로 돌아가자고 말하는 것 같다. 아마도 9월경에 사랑을 했고, 화자가 상대를 설득하는 때는 12월인 것 같다. "remember", "September", "so tender", "ember", "December" 등으로 이어지는 라임이 유명하다.
