Conformity - Chastain / 1997

Conformity는 미국 헤비메탈 그룹 체스테인(Chastain)이 1997년 발표한 7번째 스튜디오 앨범 <In Dementia>에 수록한 곡으로 팀의 리더이자 기타를 맡고 있는 데이빗 체스테인(David Taylor Chastain)이 곡을 쓰고 1995년부터 2005년까지 팀의 보컬을 맡은 케이트 프렌치(Kate French)가 가사를 썼다.

 

케이트는 핫뮤직과의 인터뷰에서 “앨범에서 가장 마음에 드는 곡은 이 곡인 것 같아요. 지금까지 살아오면서 저에게 벌어졌던 일들에 대한 것을 담고 있거든요. 사람들이 저에게 기대했던 어떤 모습과 거기에 대한 나의 반감 같은 것을 이야기하고 있어요. 앨범의 수록곡들 중에 이 곡이 가장 공격적 이여서 좋아하는 것 같아요”라고 말했다.

 

가사는 노예가 되지 않기 위해 상대방의 사악한 의도에 빠져들지 않겠다고 말하는 내용인 것 같다.
