Learn To Fly - 푸 파이터스 (Foo Fighters) / 1999

Learn To Fly는 US 록밴드 푸 파이터스(Foo Fighters)가 1999년 발표한 3번째 스튜디오 앨범 <There Is Nothing To Lose>에 수록한 곡으로 캐나다 13위, US 19위, 메록 2위, UK 21위 등을 기록했다.

 

보컬의 데이브 그롤(Dave Grohl) 등 멤버들이 함께 만들고 애덤 캐스퍼(Adam Kasper)와 공동으로 프로듀서를 맡았다. 뮤직비디오는 제시 페렛츠(Jesse Peretz)가 감독을 맡았고 짐 에이브러함스(Jim Abrahams)의 1980년 코미디 재난 영화 <에어플레인(Airplane!)> 등을 패러디 했다. 멤버들이 1인 다역을 맡았고 US 밴드 터네이셔스 D(Tenacious D) 소속의 US 영화배우 잭 블랙(Jack Black)과 카일 개스(Kyle Gass)가 카메오로 출연했다. 그래미 MV 부문을 수상했다.

 

가사는 지금껏 천사에게 빌었지만 대답없는 그들에게 이제는 지쳤고 더 이상 천사를 믿는다는 거짓말을 하고 싶지 않으니 악마가 와서 새로운 혁명으로 자신에게 삶의 생명력을 가져다 주었으면 한다고 말하는 것 같다. MV 때문인지 일부 팬들은 악마를 마약이라고 여기는 것 같다. 데이브는 한 인터뷰에서 "앨범에서는 가장 덜 좋아하는 곡들 중 한 곡인데요. 영감을 찾는 것, 자신을 살아있게 만드는 생명의 징표를 찾는 것에 관한 노래예요"라고 말했고 켈리 클락슨(Kelly Clarkson) 쇼에 출연해서는 "어떤 은유적인 의미를 담기보다는 그냥 파일럿이 되고 싶어 이 곡을 만들고 불렀습니다. 진짜로 비행하는 법을 배우고 싶었어요"라고 말했다.
