Standing Next To You - 정국(Jung Kook) / 2023

Standing Next To You은 대한민국 아이돌그룹 방탄소년단(BTS)의 멤버 정국(Jung Kook)이 2023년 발표한 솔로 데뷔 앨범 <Golden>에 수록한 곡으로 US 5위, UK 6위, 멜론 15위, 아일랜드 19위, 캐나다 30위 등을 기록했다. 

 

애런과 제이 덴튼(Jay Denton)이 만들고 제이가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 앤드류 와트(Andrew Watt), 서쿳(Cirkut, Henry Walter), 알리 탐포시(Ali Tamposi), 존 벨리언(Jon Bellion) 등이 만들고 앤드류와 서쿳이 프로듀서를 맡았다. 뮤직비디오는 타누 무이노(Tanu Muino)가 감독을 맡았고 헝가리 부다페스트에서 촬영했다. 우크라이나 모델 파샤 하룰리야(Pasha Harulia)가 출연했다. MV의 퍼포먼스도 그렇고 전체적으로 1980년대의 마이클 잭슨(Michael Jackson) 느낌이 난다.

 

정국은 애플뮤직과의 인터뷰에서 앨범 중 이 곡을 최고로 좋아하는 곡으로 꼽으며 "물론 곡이 좋지만, 그 곡을 가지고 무대를 하는 제 모습이 먼저 보여서 좋았던 것 같아요. 그래서 이번 앨범의 타이틀에 가장 적합한 곡이 아닐까 싶어 고르게 됐죠. 녹음 과정도 정말 어려웠기 때문에 제 마음 속에서 매우 특별한 자리를 차지하고 있어요. 아미 여러분께 한 가지 해주고 싶은 이야기는 이어폰이나 스마트폰 말고 스피커로 볼륨을 높여서 이 곡을 듣는 걸 추천해요"라고 말했다.

 

가사는 상대방에 대한 강한 집착(사랑)을 표현하고 있는 것 같다. 정국은 홍보용 인터뷰에서 "언제나 너와 어떤 상황에서든 함께 하겠다"는 메시지라고 말했다. "DNA"는 방탄소년단의 같은 노래 제목에서, "afterglow"는 이전 싱글 Seven에서 차용한 것으로 보인다.
