Black Is Black - 로스 브라보스 Los Bravos / 1966

 

Black Is Black은 스페인 비트 밴드 로스 브라보스(Los Bravos)가 1966년 발표한 곡으로 캐나다 1위, UK 2위, US 4위, 연말결산 86위 등을 기록했다. 오스트리아 유로 댄스 그룹 조이(Joy)가 커버했다. 

 

미셸 그레인거(Michelle Grainger), 토니 헤이즈(Tony Hayes), 스티브 웨이디(Steve Wadey) 등이 만들고 UK 프로듀서 아이버 레이몬드(Ivor Raymonde)가 프로듀서를 맡았다. 아이버가 스페인에서 브라보스를 만나 UK로 와서 제작진과 만들었고 브라보스는 영어를 배워 녹음했다. 라이너 노트에 따르면 보컬인 마이클 코겔(Michael Kogel)과 세션 뮤지션들인 빅 플릭(Vic Flick), 존 맥라플린(John McLaughlin) 등도 곡의 완성에 기여했다고 한다. 

 

가사는 떠난 애인에 대한 상실감을 그리고 있고 제목은 앞이 전혀 보이지 않는 괴로움을 표현한 것 같다.
