Sad Movies (Makes Me Cry) - Sue Thompson / 1961

Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)는 US 뮤지션 수 톰슨(Sue Thompson)이 1961년 발표한 곡으로 US 5위, UK 46위 등을 기록했다. 이듬해 발표한 수의 앨범 <Meet Sue Thompson>에 수록했다. 같은해 프랑스 뮤지션 실비 바르땅(Sylvie Vartan)이 Quand Le Film Est Triste란 제목으로 불렀고 1981년 보니 엠(Boney M)이 커버했다. 국내에선 정시스터즈가 슬픈 영화로, 민해경이 슬픈 영화는 싫어요란 제목으로 번안해 불렀다. 1999년 MBC 라디오 <골든 디스크> '한국인이 좋아하는 팝송 200' 중 126위에 올랐다. 

 

곡은 존 라우더밀크(John D. Loudermilk)가 만들었다. 존은 여자 친구와 스탠리 큐브릭(Stanley Kubrick) 감독의 영화 <스파르타쿠스(Spartacus)>를 봤는데, 영화가 끝난 후 불이 켜졌을 때 여자 친구가 “영화가 너무 슬퍼서 울었다”라고 말하는 것에 영감을 받았다고 말했다.
